2010 Breakaway

Object of the Game

Drive through tunnels, over bumps, and score points by kicking or rolling soccer balls into nets at the end of the field.

Breakaway is played on a 27ft by 54ft field by 2 alliances that consist of 3 teams each. The field is broken up into thirds by small 15" ramps. The game is played with standard size 5 soccer balls. There are two goal nets at each end of the field. To gain points, alliances must get a soccer ball into a net corresponding with their alliance colour. For each goal scored, 1 point is awarded to their alliance. Points are also awarded for robots that lift themselves up off the field onto a bar located in the middle of one of the ramps. This occurs in the last 20 seconds of the game. 2 points are awarded for robots that are hanging from the bar, above the field and 3 points are awarded to robots that are hanging from another robot. Points will only be awarded for hanging robots if they are completely clear of the field.
